MELBOURNE (AUSTRALIA)
The Focus this September issue is on the Australian city of Melbourne. Melbourne (Capital of Victoria) is Australia´s second largest city with 4 million inhabitants.The metropolis is built around Port Philip Bay whilst the city centre is located at the estuary of the river Yarra. Most of the original buildings are constructed in the Victorian style and the city has lots of green spaces. The central hub of the city, The Business District (CBD) has the unavoidable skyscrapers dominating the skyline.
The first settlers arrived in the city in 1803 and it is hard to believe, considering the beautiful location, that they left again after barely a year to go and try their luck in Tasmania.
The township of Melbourne was finally being established in 1835 and the city was named after the British Prime Minister at the time, Henry William Lamb, the 2nd Viscount Melbourne.
Melbourne is a melting pot of international cultures and this is also reflected in the cuisine, which is international and varied.

GLOBAL HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY NEWS
* The Ascott Group is expanding their presence in Indonesia. They will manage a 174 unit residence in Kuta on Bali. The name will be Citadines Bali Kuta. The property is scheduled for opening in 2012 and will comprise of studios, one bedroom apartments and two bedroom apartments.
* Quest Serviced Apartments will open their latest property on the 13th September 2010, the Quest Campbell Town. The property has 81 studio, one bedroom, two bedroom and three bedroom apartments.
* 196 Bishops Gate in London, now has Internet charges included in the rate as from the 30th August 2010
* Quest Serviced Apartments (Australia/New Zealand) is due to open their latest property in Palmerston (Northern Territory). The 84 unit property consists of a mixture of studios, one bedroom, two bedroom and three bedroom apartments.
